Someone Finally Gets Your Kid

If your child is energetic, anxious, or struggles to sit still, you don't need another big class that overlooks them. You need a coach who has the patience to meet them where they are.

Most parents who walk into Sidekick aren't looking for a trophy.

They're looking for someone who finally gets their kid.

Maybe your child can't sit still. Maybe they shut down when a coach raises their voice. Maybe other programs told you they were "too much," "not focused," or "not ready." You've tried sports, camps, and big martial arts schools. Your kid either melted into the back of the line - or bounced off the walls until someone got frustrated.

That isn't a kid problem. That's a fit problem.

What most gyms get wrong

Big classes move fast. The kids who already know how to follow along do fine. The ones who need an extra beat - the ADHD kid, the anxious kid, the kid with energy that has nowhere useful to go - get left behind, corrected publicly, or quietly ignored.

Yelling doesn't create discipline. It creates fear. And fear is not the same as focus.

What patience looks like here

At Sidekick, patience isn't soft. It's deliberate.

Small classes mean I can actually see your child. I can tell when they need a clearer instruction, a shorter step, or a moment to reset - without embarrassing them in front of the group.

We keep structure without rigidity. Expectations are clear. Effort matters. Respect matters. But we don't scream a kid into compliance. We teach them how to show up, try again, and earn confidence the long way.

Parents tell me the same thing after the first class more than anything else: someone finally gets my kid.

That's the bar.

Who this is for

  • Kids who are high-energy and need a place to put it
  • Kids who are anxious and shut down under pressure
  • Kids with ADHD who do better with clear, patient coaching
  • Families in Hasbrouck Heights and nearby Bergen County who want real attention, not a big production line
  • Ages: Tiny Tigers (3-5) and Kids Martial Arts (6-14). Kids must be potty trained.

What to expect

You'll see calm, firm teaching. You'll see your child noticed. You won't get a hard sell or a promise of a black belt in a few months.

If it's a fit, you'll feel it. If it's not, we'll say so.
