Try 1 Free Week at Sidekick Martial Arts

Most schools offer one free class. We offer one free week.

That is enough time for a child, teen, or adult to settle in, and enough time for you to see how we actually coach. Sidekick Martial Arts & Fitness in Hasbrouck Heights runs small classes for ages 3 and up. Kids must be potty trained. Patient. Structured. No yelling. No hard sell.

Free Week covers kids, teens, and adults. Families from Hasbrouck Heights, Lodi, Hackensack, Maywood, Rutherford, East Rutherford, and nearby Bergen County towns use it to test fit before they join.

What the free week includes

  • Age-appropriate classes for your group (Tiny Tigers, Kids Martial Arts, or teens/adults)

  • Real instruction from Master Joe's school, not a demo reel

  • A chance to learn the warm-up, the expectations, and the room

  • Time for a parent (or the adult trainee) to see how corrections are given and whether people are noticed

  • A straightforward conversation after the week about whether it is a fit

What it is not: a one-class sample, a pressure pitch, or a "sign today or lose this deal" speech.

Who it's for

Parents and adults in Hasbrouck Heights and nearby Bergen County towns who want:

  • Small classes where every person gets attention

  • Coaching that works for energetic kids, anxious kids, and kids with ADHD, without clinical promises we cannot make

  • Discipline and confidence taught with patience, not volume

  • A long-term school, not a revolving door

  • A full Free Week for kids, teens, and adults, not a one-class teaser

If your child melted into the back of a big class, or bounced off the walls until someone got frustrated, this week is how you find out if Sidekick is different. If a teen or adult wants kickboxing, strength, or self-defense, Free Week covers that path too.

What the first visit looks like

  1. 1

    You book.

Pick a class on our online schedule, or call or text (201) 754-4408. We'll confirm the right class and what to bring.

  2. 2

You arrive a few minutes early.

Check in. Meet us. You (or your child) see the space before class starts.

  3. 3

    Class begins with structure.

Warm-up, listening, fundamentals. Clear instructions. Firm tone when needed - never screaming.

  4. 4

Every student is coached, not parked.

Small classes exist so we can see who's struggling, who's ready for more, and who needs a shorter step.

  5. 5

    You watch.

Notice how students are spoken to. Notice whether they look lost or included.

  6. 6

We talk when it makes sense.

After class or later in the week - about fit, not about closing a sale.

Come as you are. We care more about effort and respect than perfect uniforms on day one.

Expectations

  • Show up on time.

  • Effort matters. Trying is required. Perfection is not.

  • Respect is non-negotiable.

  • We don't yell kids into focus. We teach them how to listen.

  • We don't promise fast belts. Progress is earned.

  • If it's not a fit, we'll say so. Same if it is.
